Overview

International MSME Day 2024 is set to be a landmark regional event, uniting stakeholders from across ASEAN to celebrate the resilience and innovation of MSMEs and help chart a course for their sustainable future. The event was held on June 24th, 2024, in Vientiane.

Description

E-commerce is a major driver for domestic and cross-border business, with considerable potential for MSMEs as the “backbone” of ASEAN economies.

Many “homegrown” platforms in Southeast Asia, among others are driven by the young and growing urban middle class with high internet affinity.

Social commerce and the use of social media and messaging platforms is another opportunity with a “low threshold” for MSMEs that offers direct communication channels with consumers, alongside the growing trend of integration of “influencer marketing”.
