The ASEAN region has experienced remarkable growth in its digital economy, in which the information technology (IT) industry has emerged as a key pillar driving economic development, enhancing competitiveness, and improving public services. Beyond being a standalone sector, IT accelerates the development and connection of all other industries, such as finance, education, healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing. According to Statista, ASEAN's IT service revenue is projected to have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.08% from 2025 to 2030, resulting in a market volume of US$41.62 billion by 2030. This data highlights the significance of the IT services sector in ASEAN.
ASEAN Member States have signed various trade agreements to facilitate economic integration and liberalization. Among these trade agreements, the ASEAN Agreement on Trade in Services (ATISA) liberalizes all service sectors by default through the "negative list" approach. It would bring numerous opportunities for the service sector in general and the IT industry in particular. Through its commitments to liberalize services, ATISA fosters a favorable environment that enhances cooperation and integration within the regional IT services market. Furthermore, the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) is expected to be concluded and signed by 2026. By creating a unified framework in the region, the framework would accelerate development across Southeast Asia and unlock a potential $2 trillion digital economy by 2030.
In this context, the market talk “IT service sector: Tapping opportunities from the ASEAN Trade in Service Agreement (ATISA)” will be organized to provide ASEAN IT businesses with insights into the market landscape, key ATISA mechanisms, and the opportunities it presents for the region’s IT service sector.
